Describing production readiness after your closed test

Document the changes you made from tester feedback and how you decided the app was ready.

In this guide

According to Google's help page, the production access application has sections on your closed test, your app and your production readiness, and asks, among other things, for a summary of tester feedback, the changes you made after closed testing, and how you decided the app was ready. Check the current form in Play Console. Good answers come from notes you kept during the test, not from memory on the last day.

What a reader wants to see

  • You collected feedback from real testers.
  • You sorted it and decided what to fix.
  • You changed the app because of it.
  • You had a reason to call the app ready.

Step 1: Keep a change log during the test

For every relevant piece of feedback, one row:

Date Feedback (short) Decision Change shipped Build/version
Example "Login button does nothing on tablet" Fix now Button handler corrected build 7

Include "won't fix" rows with the reason. They show judgement.

Step 2: Sort feedback before you act

Not all feedback weighs the same. A simple order: crashes and data loss first, blocked core flows second, confusing screens third, wishes last. See how to prioritize app feedback.

Step 3: Define "ready" before you claim it

Write your own criteria and check them honestly. Examples:

  • No known crash in the main flow.
  • All items marked "fix now" are shipped and re-tested.
  • The store listing matches what the app does.
  • You can name what is still open and why it can wait.

Step 4: Write the narrative

Short, specific, in the first person. A pattern:

"During the test we collected feedback from our testers through {method}. The most common issues were {X} and {Y}. We fixed {X} in version {N} and {Y} in version {M}. We left {Z} for later because {reason}. We consider the app ready because {criteria met}."

Replace each placeholder with something true. Do not describe changes you did not make, and do not invent tester numbers or quotes.

Common weak spots

  • Vague answers such as "we improved the app".
  • No link between feedback and change.
  • Listing every tiny change instead of the important ones.

AppReviewX gives you private, structured feedback (one feedback you write earns one credit) that is easy to turn into a change log, plus test rounds for Google Play's 12-testers-for-14-days closed-test requirement on Android apps. Join a test round.
