In this guide
Testers say they sent feedback, and you see nothing. Most of the time the feedback exists; it is in a place you are not looking, or it went by a different route.
Where feedback shows up
In App Store Connect: open the app, go to the TestFlight tab, and look under Feedback in the sidebar. There are two lists:
- Screenshots: screenshots with the tester's comments, plus tester, app and device details.
- Crashes: crash submissions with comments and details.
You can filter by platform, app version, build group, build, OS version or device. If a list looks empty, clear the filters first. You need one of these roles to see it: Account Holder, Admin, App Manager, Developer or Marketing.
Common reasons it is missing
- Filters hide it. Build, group or OS filters are the usual culprit.
- Old TestFlight on an old OS. Feedback from testers on TestFlight 2.3 or later appears in App Store Connect. Testers on TestFlight 2.2.1 or earlier running iOS 12.4 or earlier can only send feedback by email, to the address in the Feedback Email field under Test Information.
- In-app feedback is disabled for a group. If a tester belongs to several groups and any one has feedback disabled, that tester can only send feedback by email from the TestFlight app. Check the group settings under Tester Feedback.
- A crash that froze the app. If the app became unresponsive because of the crash, the download will not include a crash report.
- Crash reports are old. Apple states crash reports can be downloaded for 120 days.
- The tester wrote a message instead of using the feedback flow. Plain messages to you are not the same as TestFlight feedback.
What to tell testers
Apple says testers on TestFlight 2.3 or later can send feedback through the TestFlight app or by taking a screenshot directly within your beta app. Keep your instructions as short as this:
- Open the app from TestFlight.
- Take a screenshot where the problem shows, or send feedback from the TestFlight app.
- Add a comment and send.
The exact taps differ by iOS and TestFlight version, so tell testers to follow the prompts on screen.
Make feedback easier to use
Screenshot feedback is good for a visual problem and thin for everything else. Ask testers to add what they did, what they expected and what happened. See TestFlight feedback before App Review for a way to collect it.
If you want structured feedback
AppReviewX gives you private, structured feedback from other developers. One feedback you write earns one credit, and new accounts start with 0 credits. Test packages are for apps that are already published.
